How I Work
Be the person you are meant to be…

The Covid pandemic has left the world in a global mental health crisis. Children are suffering serious developmental delays for missing three years of school, and adults are left with depression, confusion about direction in life, anxiety, as well as other grave conditions.

After we talk on the phone, we meet in person and  I take a thorough history. This allows us to get to know each other better and clarifies how I might be able to help. Then we work together for 3-4 sessions to see if it feels like a “fit.”

With adult clients we primarily talk to explore your areas of concern. As a Jungian therapist, I use dreams to guide our work. We may also use Sandplay or artwork when appropriate. I am well trained and experienced in many modes of therapy. I meet my client at your areas of concern, and we build from there. In all cases the work is done with the deepest respect and caring.

Dr. Turner working with your child

With children, I first meet with the parents alone to take a history and explain how I work. Then I meet with the child alone for 2-3 sessions to form an assessment of what is going on and what might be needed to help. Children think with images and feelings. Their work is done through play. Sandplay is always available for the kids as is art, role play, games, etc.

Once I’ve made an assessment, I meet again with the parents to review my findings and recommendations. Parents are an integral part of the child’s therapy, so we meet every few sessions to stay in touch with changes at home, school, etc.
